4WD refers to vehicles that have all 4 wheels being driven under power.

These utility vehicles are commonplace on civil

construction, mining, and emergency management workplaces were maintaining traction over rough, slippery, or uneven terrain by powering all 4 wheels, provides better control of the vehicle and therefore both vehicle and operator safety.

Whether you are employed by private enterprise or a Government

Department, your Employer will be looking for your ability to:

  • Consistency and safety operate a 4WD for both on and offroad driving
 
  • Understand the traction technology (types of 4WD) to ensure the vehicles are used properly
  • Effectively apply policies and procedures including the use of navigation equipment
 
  • Mitigate risk to self, other workers, equipment, and the environment
 
  • Properly carry out maintenance and care of 4×4 vehicles
 
  • Work with others to problem solve 4WD operations (and recovery) 
Classroom and practical activities.
 
Minimum 17 years of age, physically fit, ability to speak, read & write English.
100 points of ID (see downloads below)
  • Learning materials are provided.
  • Please bring enclosed footwear, high vis shirt (vest available), 100 points of ID, hard hat (if owned), weather suitable clothing and Lunch.
  • Tea & Coffee Provided.
From 1st January 2015 each student that will be commencing nationally recognised training in Australia is required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to be able to obtain their certificate or qualification from their registered training organisation.
